OK, I'm probably the thousandth person to say this in their blog, but, the way this Katrina disaster is being handled is SICK. I am literally feeling sickened to read about these suffering people, put into an inhuman situation, with no help for them yet. This is a completely unacceptable level of response for America. I am shocked.

It is rather disappointing. :-( I think part of it is because they didn't really think it was going to be as bad as it was, and they certainly didn't expect the levee to break (even though the Army Corps of Engineers had been telling NO for years that it would with the next big hurricane).
It seems there isn't one central command. And the communication is non-existent. All those people that were bussed to Houston to be turned away - why weren't the bus drivers notified that there wasn't any more room?
I think everyone was expecting just a "normal" hurricane, but that levee breaking just did them all in.
(And unfortunately many people of NO are acting like normal - all the gangs, shooting, looting, etc. - that's normal behavior, I'm sad to say. When we lived down there I refused to go into NO by myself!)
